Tecumseh cross walks

  • 30 photos
  • Pedestrians waiting to cross Chicago Boulevard at four intersections in downtown Tecumseh have to push a button to activate the signal — otherwise, it could be a long wait. The Michigan Department of Transportation recently installed upgraded pedestrian signals designed to make traffic flow more smoothly. “We upgraded to meet new standards. It’s a fairly new technology, designed to expedite traffic flow,” explained Hal Zweng, MDOT resident engineer in the Tecumseh office. The signals have four cables across the intersections, making them more visible, he said. “Pedestrians have to push a button to activate them.”

Michener Playground

  • 1 photo
  • The Adrian High School football team helped get the new Michener school playground ready for the start of the school year Sunday. Nick Galvan, Brooks Sutherland, and Erik Smith along with teammates moved loads of mulch into place at the new playground site. More than 40 people from the Michener PTO, school employees and Adrian Rotary erected the playground equipment Saturday. The playground was purchased with funds from left over money from the McKinley playground fund and Michener school fundraisers last year. Several area businesses contributed money and manpower to the project. More than 300 Michener students will benefit from the new playground.
