“A couple hours later, I’m sick as a dog,” said Washington, who loved ham until he received Roxanne Willnow’s kidney the day after the Adrian woman’s death.

Siena vs Spring Arbor Men's Basketball

Winning close games was a struggle for the Siena Heights University men’s basketball team most of last winter.
This season, the results have been more favorable for Siena in those games.
The Saints continued their strong start to the season by defeating previously unbeaten Spring Arbor 61-56 at the Siena Heights Fieldhouse on Tuesday evening. Junior guard Mark Snipes broke a 56-56 tie with a driving layup in the final minute and added a late free throw to help Siena (3-0) win its home opener and remain unbeaten.

Despite a huge night from sophomore hitter Kelsey Berrington the Tecumseh Indians volleyball team could not pull of a Class B regional semifinal win over DeWitt Panthers on Tuesday.
Berrington had 25 kills, 20 digs and four blocks but it was not enough as the Indians fell in four games. Tecumseh dominated the opener and won 25-18 before falling 25-14, 25-21 and 25-18 in the next three.

Pool professionals Nick Varner and Johnny Archer gave an exhibition at Diamond Jims Pool Hall in Adrian on Monday. As they played pool they explained their strategy and answered questions from those who attended the private event. Johnny Archer of Twin City, Georgia, started playing pool at age 12 and turned professional at age 17. He was inducted into the Billiard Congress Hall of Fame. He was the world champion four times in 1992, 1993, 1995, and 1997. He was named the Player of the Decade in the 1990's. Nick Varner of Owensboro, Kentucky, began playing pool at the age of 5 and turned pro at the age of 22. He is the only player to hold a world champion in 5 different types of pool games. He is an 8 time world champion. He achieved a rare back to back US open 9 ball championships in 1989 and 1990.
