Bird Park clean up

  • On Friday approximately 120 seventh grade students at Tecumseh Middle School cleaned up along trails in Douglas W. Bird Kiwanis Memorial Park in Tecumseh. Members of the Kiwanis Club are planning to expand walking trails in the wooded area of Bird Park behind the Tecumseh Center for the Arts.

Red Mill Pond Dam

  • A 2,500-pound steel gate was lifted out of the dam at Red Mill Pond Wednesday for a trip to the repair shop. That step in a major renovation of the dam closed Evans Street for nearly six hours while a crane operated from the roadway. Traffic between Tecumseh and Clinton was detoured onto M-52.

Citizen Action Awards

  • Police chief Vince Emrick honored the actions of five citizens Monday after they helped capture a suspect during an attempted robbery earlier this month. The incident occurred at about 5 p.m. on Oct. 4 at Old China Super Buffet, 1374 S. Main St. Emrick awarded citations for citizen action to Anthony Bovee, Michael Esterline and Michael Mistopoulos Jr. during the Adrian City Commission meeting. Joshua Parsell and Qiao Ling Lin were absent.

Greg Hunt Funeral

  • Funeral services for Cambridge Township Police Sgt. Greg Hunt took place Monday at Anderson Funeral Home in Adrian. Hunt, 41, died Wednesday at home due to what appears to have been an accidental gunshot wound, a report stated. The U.S. Navy flag flew Monday at half-staff.
